Petition To Stop City Hall Moving Forward

A petition has been started by Amarillo business owner Craig Gualtier to override the city council’s move go ahead and issue certificates of obligation to build a new city hall.

Gualtier has already filed a lawsuit to that end.

Now he wants to petition to call for a special election to put the project on the ballot.

He says the needs about 5,711 signatures. State law says that number must be met within 45 days of the initial filing which will fall on August 16

On August 10, the city council will consider authorizing the issuance of certificates of obligation for up to 35-million dollars for a new city hall building.
