DPS Enforcement Increases During Thanksgiving Weekend

Law enforcement is stepping up this week as the thanksgiving weekend draws closer.

The Texas Department of Public Safety will increase enforcement on roads from Wednesday through Sunday.

They will be cracking down on intoxicated driving, not wearing seatbelts, speeding, and other violations.

DPS participates in the nationwide CARE initiative, and last year, over 36,000 citations were issued over Thanksgiving weekend.

Some ways to keep you safe and out of the radar include buckling up, maintaining posted speeds, and not getting behind the wheel with distractions or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

DPS offices will be closed starting at noon on the 23rd, and remain closed until the 28th with normal business hours.
