Scam Watch – Jury Duty

A call was reported to the Potter County Sheriff’s Office asking about their warrant for skipping jury duty. 

The police were able to determine the resident was being called by a scammer and assured them there was no warrant for their arrest. 

The scammer identified himself as Lieutenant Langwell.

The sheriff’s office will not call with warrant information, and will not demand payment over the phone for outstanding warrants. 

If you receive a call in regards to an owed payment or a potential scam, get their information without disclosing your own, hang up, and call the genuine company or official, who verify whether the claim is genuine or not.
