PCSO App Provides Instant Contact With School Districts During An Emergency

When he was first elected Potter County Sheriff in 2009, Brian Thomas’ goal was to have school resource officers in place on all campuses in an effort to make them safe and secure, as well as providing mentorship for students.

The PCSO says officials in the Bushland and River Road school districts are now equipped with radio communication via their cell phones in the form of an app that contacts dispatch directly, including voice communication.

The app can be activated in the event of an emergency, allowing the school official to provide real-time information as officers respond.

Sheriff Thomas says his department is currently in conversation with the Highland Park school district and Highland Park Police to implement the app there as well.
