NM State Police Officer Shot and Killed

New Mexico State Police confirm an officer was shot and killed during a traffic stop Friday morning on I-40 west of Tucumcari.

Officials are still working to gather information about this incident, but can confirm the suspect was wearing a brown hoodie and jacket and last seen on foot heading west on the I-40 frontage road between Montoya and Newkirk, New Mexico. 

Police remind the public the suspect is armed and dangerous and advised not to approach or make contact with him but to notify your local authorities.
