Hartman Expected To Be Named New Interim City Manager

Tuesday’s Amarillo City Council meeting has a few interesting items noted on the agenda. Among them is what appears to be the awarding of an intergovernmental agreement with the city of Hillsboro, Oregon to allow it to use Amarillo’s negotiated pricing from 2021 for fire department Class A uniforms.

Another involves what appears to be an amendment to city’s Municipal Code involving pedestrian safety at intersections, prohibiting them from standing, sitting or lying in a clear zone and prohibits them from approaching motorists in a safety zone.

Money in the way of expenditures and awarded contracts are light by recent standards, coming to around $2.6 million, most going to Davidson Oil for motor fuel top-off.

The last item listed before the meeting is adjourned is the discussion and appointment of – and a letter of agreement to be given to a new Interim City Manager in the wake of Andrew Freeman stepping down from that position last week. The new Interim City Manager, by all accounts, is expected to be Assistant City Manager, Floyd Hartman.
