Fairly’s Gift WTAMU $20 Million

From a campus venue that carries the family name, Cheryl and Alex Fairly donated $20 million to West Texas A&M University to benefit The Hill Institute.

Among those in attendance at the Fairly Group Club in the Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium were Senators Kevin Sparks, Charles Perry, John Smithee and Four Price. Lt. Governor Dan Patrick was also on hand.

University President Dr. Walter Wendler, before introducing Texas A&M System Chancellor, John Sharp, shared what the Fairly donation means to the university and told of how he considers the Fairly’s, “Thoughtful stewards of God’s gift to them.” Wendler added The Hill Institute “Will inspire students to impact the world” through, what he called “Engaged citizenship.”

The donation, the largest ever single-family gift to the One West Campaign and the university, moves the campaign total thus far to $150 million, with a goal of $175 million.

The Hill Institute was named after Joseph A. Hill, the second and longest serving president of WTAMU.
