Crash Near Panhandle Leaves One Dead

A Mac tractor trailer vs. Lincoln Town Car accident near Panhandle Thursday claimed one life.

According to a DPS press release, the driver of the Lincoln Town Car, 70-year-old Cyrys Wingate of Hernando, MS, was traveling north on Highway 207 when he attempted to turn onto the I-40 service road, failing to yield to the oncoming Mac truck. 

Both vehicles were forced from the road, the Lincoln coming to rest on its side.

Wingate was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
