WT Announces Promotions, Retirements For 2022-23 Academic Year

West Texas A&M University announced 21 faculty members have been awarded tenure or given a promotion for the upcoming 2022-23 academic year.

17 individuals were given tenure and a promotion to associate professor at the school’s annual spring address, including those from the music department, mass communications department and more.

The four members elevated to professor are Dr. David Lust, Dr. Hellen Reyes, Dr. Nicholas Scales and Edward Truitt.

They were chosen by President Walter Wendler along with the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents after extensive reviews and recommendations by their colleagues in the department.

WT also recognized those professors who will be retiring including Dr. Rex Lee, Dr. James Owens, Dr. Elsa Diego Medrano, Dr. Byron Pearson and Laura Waight.
