Surgery Center of Amarillo Makes Great Advancements In Hip Surgery

The Surgery Center of Amarillo has announced they have recently performed the region’s first outpatient, same-day total hip replacement surgery.

The center says that thanks to advancements in medical technology, technique, and pain management, it’s possible for someone to return home to recover the very same day.

Dr. Tyler Cooper of Top of Texas Orthopedics, who performed the surgery said “By doing the total hip replacement as an outpatient procedure, patients can have the comfort of recovering at their own home, which often leads to a quicker return to normal activities.”

This accomplishment comes just months after the Surgery Center performed the region’s first robotic assisted total knee replacement.
