Three Businesses Take Home $75,000 Each

Three businesses took home a total of $225,000 in the 2023-24 Amarillo Enterprize Challenge.

Each will receive $75,000.

Amarillo Legacy Monument, owned by Nick Ortiz, sells custom grave monuments and markers to help families memorialize loved ones. Ortiz started his business in 2018 following the loss of his 7-year-old son.

Hi-Plains Civil Engineers was originally established in 1985 as Brandt Engineers. HPCE owners Adolfo Garcia, Christopher Godinez, and Oscar Ostos, saw a need to bridge the gap between retiring engineers in the mid 80’s and today.

Slicks Fabworks designs and builds wood-burning outdoor cooking stoves and grills, be it their design or something custom or personalized. Owners Cody and Brittanie Eslick say their products are designed to work with charcoal as well as wood.

The winners were honored May 9 at the WT Enterprise Center. 2300 North Western in Amarillo.
