Playa Field Day set for August

Join the Ogalalla Commons for another Playa Field Day on August 30th, in the Hereford, Tx area from 9 am until 2 pm.

The field day will cover information about playa ecosystems, possibilities for restoration through the Texas Playa Conservation Initiative (TxPCI), a previously unheard geological overview of the Ogallala Aquifer, and an exploration of how playas and grasslands support a rainfed
perennial agriculture, and communities on the Llano Estacado.

Along with the various activities and information available, participants will also be able to hear from presenters Dr. Joseph Cepeda, professor in the Geology department at West Texas A&M University, as well as Region 1 Migratory Game Bird Specialist Heather Johnson from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and Dr. Chris Grotegut, a recipient of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s coveted Lone Star Land Steward Award for his work with playas and stewarding the aquifer.

Registration is $20 per person which includes lunch, drinks, and snacks throughout the day.
