Agenda Items For April 23 City Council Meeting

The Amarillo City Council will meet next on Tuesday, April 23 at 3pm. Among the agenda items are the authorization for the City to “seek and distribute State funds in cooperation with the Amarillo-Potter Event Venue District” for the 2024 Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association World and AQHA World of Mounted Shooting Horses Event. The 2024 United States Team Penning Association World Championship, and 2024 WRCA World Championship Ranch Rodeo are included as well.

Roughly $15 million in TIRZ #3 reimbursements are listed.

It appears the agreement between the COA and Randall County/Randall County Jail is up for – and will likely be approved, including the addition of a fiber optic circuit to be installed between the jail and the Simms Municipal Building.

$4.4 million for things like Lawrence Lake (Playa 6) and other site pump and drainage improvements, fencing for John Stiff Park, and software licensing and support is noted on Tuesday’s agenda as well.

Among the discussion items will be the City Charter amendment election process. During the April 9 meeting, the prospect of getting amendments ready for the November ballot was discussed and moved on.
