New Mexico Convention

Covid-19 restrictions has caused the New Mexico State Republican Party to move it’s convention out of state to Amarillo.

Organizers say Operation Freedom will still feature some COVID-19 safety measures to keep Amarillo from becoming the epicenter of an outbreak.

The Mayor of Amarillo is a nonpartisan position, and it is unusual for them to ally specifically with one party.

Mayor Nelson sees  some economic benefits, that would benefit the Amarillo economy. especially in the tourism market
