City Council Approves FY23/24 Budget

During a special meeting of the Amarillo City Council Tuesday, the fiscal budget for 23/24 was finally voted on and adopted. That vote was 5-0.

The city will operate with a budget of $531 million for the next 12 months, funded in part by an ad valorem tax rate that should create $65 million. 

The total budget does not include grant money, sales tax collection and other revenue collections.

Public Improvement District (PID) ordinances for a number a city neighborhoods were approved by a single 5-0 vote, the caveat being The Vineyards, which will be voted on next Tuesday, September 26.

The city also authorized the AEDC to sell roughly 254 acres of land near the airport to International Paper for $6,350,000.00 plus closing costs. International Paper says it is not ready to divulge what it intends to do with the property.
