Changes Being Made At The Amarillo’s Maverick Boys and Girls Club

Amarillo’s Maverick Boys and Girls Club is closing it’s doors temporarily because a staff member tested positive for Covid 19.

The club is not transferring its clients to other locations because all kids have to be self quarantined for 14 days. Not only, that the other services that provide child care are at AISD Schools and the school campuses are closed.

The City’s Health Department is working with the Club to see if there is any spread among staffers or children they provide services for..

The Health Department is contacting every club staff member and every child, the family of that child and interviewing them to see if they have any symptoms to see if they need to be tested.

The Maverick Club is optimistically hoping to reopen by May 25th.

The club is also working with the Governor’s Office and the Centers for Disease Control to see if it can hold it’s summer program as scheduled.

If all restrictions are lifted prior to June 1st the Club is planning on holding it’s summer program.
