Budget And Taxes; City Council Expected To Cover Both Tuesday

The Amarillo City Council will meet at 3pm Tuesday for what can be summed up as buttoning-up the 23/24 fiscal budget.

Most of the meeting involves second-and-final readings for a myriad of items that include five-year service plans and annual property assessments for neighborhood Public Improvement District (PID) projects citywide.

The budget presented last week will again be discussed and considered during a special meeting of non-consent items. The property tax increase will also be considered.

Because the adopted budget requires more tax revenue than the previous year’s budget, the council is required to take a separate ratification vote on the issue.
