Amarillo Council Approves Ordinance Change For Hotel Occupancy Tax Collection.

A first reading was given on an ordinance change that would add bed and breakfasts and short term residential rentals to the coverage of the Hotel Occupancy Tax collection.

With changes in the state law for Hotel Occupancy Tax in recent years, short term rentals, such as Air B n B’s and rentals under 30 days, qualified the city to collect those HOT tax.

Although some places have been paying those tax some have not.

The City will create new marketing documents that clarify the process to remit HOT through Avenu for those that are not familiar with the process.
