WTAMU No Confidence Vote

It’s a vote of no confidence for West Texas A and M University’s Walter Wendler.

A faculty representative says the majority of the votes tabulated show staffers at the school took exception to President Wendler’s leadership.

Last month, Wendler sent out an email canceling a drag show on campus.

Campus protests and a lawsuit preceded the no-confidence vote.

The no-confidence vote is nonbinding because Wendler is hired by the Texas A&M University System.

Ballots were sent to full-time faculty and Professional Librarians.

The total number of ballots accounted for is 281 and the total number of ballots voting no confidence came in at 179.

The overall participation rate was 76.36 percent. Faculty voted no confidence in President Walter Wendler, with 68.58 percent of eligible ballots voting in favor of no confidence.
