WT Alumni To Be Honored At This Years Homecoming

West Texas A&M University has big plans for this year’s Homecoming celebration, including the celebration of their Distinguished Alumni.

This annual award has been given to 119 alumni since 1970 thanks to their professional achievements in their careers, military service, leadership in their communities, and support to WT.

Colonel Steven McCraw is the first recipient, thanks to his dedication as director of the Department of Public Safety, an FBI special agent, and the Homeland Security Director.

Pat and Val White moved to Wellington after their graduations and marriage, and together, they have made great strides to revitalize the town, largely through their Zephyr Foundation.

Betty Solis came to WT from  Argentina to pursue her education, became the first Bilingual teacher in the Amarillo Independent School District, received her master’s of education degree, and worked up to Principal of Glenwood Elementary before retiring.

Her dedication to volunteering led to the formation of the Eveline Rivers Christmas Project and helped with many others.

The ceremony will be in Legacy Hall on September 29th at the Phoenix Event.

Tickets are $75 and can be purchased here.
