Tuesday Sports Update – Predators Slip Past Stars

(Dallas, TX) — Mikael Granlund scored with just over eight minutes to play to lift the Predators to a 3-2 win over the Stars in Dallas. Rocco Grimaldi and Filip Forsberg lit the lamp in the second period as Nashville jumped out to a two-goal lead. Pekka Rinne made 40 saves as the Predators took a 2-to-1 advantage in the playoff series. Mats Zuccarello and Tyler Seguin scored for Dallas. The first three games have each been decided by one goal. Game Four will be tomorrow night in Dallas.

Clippers Rally To Stun Warriors

(Oakland, CA) — The Clippers put together a historic comeback to stun the Warriors 135-131 in Game Two of their first-round playoff series in Oakland. Golden State led by 31 midway through the third quarter before LA clawed its way back. Lou Williams led the way with 36 points. LA set a record for the largest postseason rally and tied the series at one.

Rockets, Jazz Will Meet Again Tomorrow

(Houston, TX) — The Rockets will host the Jazz tomorrow night in Game Two of their opening-round series in the NBA Playoffs. Houston drubbed Utah 122-90 in the series opener Sunday in Houston. The series will switch to Salt Lake City for Game Three on Saturday.

Rangers Power Past Angels

(Arlington, TX) — Shin-Soo Choo and Joey Gallo each had three hits, including a homer, as the Rangers overpowered the Angels 12-7 in Arlington. Asdrúbal Cabrera homered, doubled and drove in a pair of runs in the win. José Leclerc got the final out for his fourth save after the Angels loaded the bases. Texas is 3-and-1 in its last four games.

Rangers Host Angels Again Tonight

(Arlington, TX) — Left-hander Mike Minor will be the Rangers starter tonight against the Angels in the middle contest of their three-game series at Globe Life Park. Minor is 1-and-0 with a 1.29 ERA in his last two starts. He went 2-and-0 against the Angels last year.

Astros Seeking 10th Straight Win

(Oakland, CA) — The Astros will try to extend their winning streak to 10 when they play in Oakland tonight. Colin McHugh will start for Houston. McHugh has a 9-and-1 career record against Oakland. The Athletics will counter with Marco Estrada.

Sod Poodles Blanked in Series Opener

(MIDLAND, Texas) – The Amarillo Sod Poodles dropped the opener of a three-game set against the Midland RockHounds 9-0 on Monday night at Security Bank Ballpark. The Sod Poodles and RockHounds continue their series this morning. First pitch is at 11 a.m. Amarillo sends lefty Adrian Morejon to the mound while Midland counters with right-hander Parker Dunshee.

Frederick Participates In Cowboys Initial Preseason Conditioning

(Frisco, TX) — Pro Bowl center Travis Frederick participated in the Cowboys first strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation workout. Frederick did not play last season because of an autoimmune disease that attacks the nervous system.

Duke’s Zion Williamson Declares For NBA Draft

(Durham, NC) — Duke freshman phenom Zion Williamson is going pro. Williamson officially declared for the NBA Draft on Monday. The 6-foot-7, 285-pound forward is widely considered the number-one prospect in the draft. The 18-year-old averaged 22.6 points and 8.9 rebounds while shooting 68-percent from the field during his lone season with the Blue Devils.

TCU Lands Xavier Transfer

(Fort Worth, TX) — Xavier guard Keonte Kennedy announced on Twitter he is transferring to TCU. He is from Austin. The 6-foot-5 Kennedy will have to sit out the upcoming season, but will be eligible for the 2020-21 season.
