Texas Rangers Identify Victim in a 22-Year-Old Case

A case from 22 years ago might finally be closing soon thanks to new information discovered by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

In 1999 Texas Rangers were called to assist with the unidentified body of a woman found outside of McLean, Texas but could not identify the victim via fingerprint, DNA, or other methods.

In April of 2022, personnel from the Texas Ranger’s Unsolved Crimes Investigations Program along with the Roads to Justice program used DNA testing advancements to make a possible identification.

The body is believed to be that of Brenda Sue Guessler from Phoenix, Arizona.
