Rep. Smithee At The Border Today With Gov. Abbott, Others

Texas State Representative John Smithee (HD-86) traveled to the Eagle Pass section of the state border with Mexico Thursday to join Governor Greg Abbott and other Texas representatives in response to President Biden’s “reckless open border policies.”

The governor and state dignitaries are scheduled to gather for a press conference at Shelby Park around 3 p.m. 

Prior to the press conference, officials are to receive a briefing on what is known as Operation Lone Star, which is the ongoing effort to secure the border.

While in Amarillo last week, Governor Abbott spoke about his efforts to reduce the number of illegal migrants from crossing into the state, adding the razor wire and buoys have, in fact, contributed to the significant reduction in those numbers.
