Randall County Deputy Dead

The second Randall County Sheriff’s Deputy has died.  This is the second Deputy to pass away in three days.

Sergent Gary Goodner died after invasive surgery on March 30 from complications.

Goodner had been with the department since 2014 and started his career as a correctional officer, and was promoted to Sergeant over compliance.

He was raised in Amarillo, and graduated from Amarillo College with a Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and later went on to the Panhandle Regional Law Enforcement Academy in 2016.

On May 14th, the department lost Sergeant Jay Claxton in a strange traffic crash.

Just two weeks prior to Goodner’s death the department held a fundraising luncheon for his family.
