Raising Awareness During National Suicide Prevention Month

Suicide is the leading cause of death in the US for kids 10-14 and the third-leading cause of death for kids 15-19, but there are warning signs you can look for.

A few things parents should watch for that could be signs of suicidality include talking or drawing about it, changes in academic performance, reckless or risky behavior, and more.

Experts say the best thing a parent could do if they see any of these markers is to talk to their child about it and start a conversation.

Local, state, and national resources like the crisis helpline are available for those struggling with their mental health, as well as emergency services if there is immediate danger.
