Perryton Fire Fatal
The Perryton Fire Department is reporting a four-year-old child perished in a house fire, Thursday morning.
Fire Chief Paul Dutcher says the call came in at 9;53 yesterday morning about a fire at 802 Drake Street.
When fire crews got there they found the blaze mostly contained to a bedroom. On further inspection they found the child in the bed had passed away.
As PFD were investigating the fire, the homeowner told them there should have been a man in the house.
A further search turned up a 39-year-old man in a crawl space under the house.
The man did not appear to have any apparent injuries, but was taken to Ochiltree General Hospital and then to Lubbock for smoke inhalation treatment.
The child is not related to the homeowner or the 39-year-old man, and the blaze is still under investigation by Perryton Police, Texas Rangers and the State fire Marshals Office.
