Matador Tornado Rated EF3

The National Weather Service has rated last week’s tornado that hit Matador, Texas as an EF3.

NWS officials say the storm had peak wind gusts of 145 to 165 miles per hour.

The storm is estimated to have covered a third of a mile wide at 8:00 pm Wednesday night, killing 4 people and injuring 15 others.

The storm produced large hail, with the largest stone measuring 4.5 inches in diameter.
