Governor Abbott, Other Officials In Canadian Tuesday

Texas Governor Greg Abbott was in Canadian Tuesday afternoon to provide some insight as to recovery and rebuilding efforts, including asking all affected by the wildfires to get their information to their insurance companies and to share that data with local and state officials to help Texas apply for additional federal funding.

Abbott and the assembled panel of local and state officials also took questions from the audience and media in attendance.

Among those joining Governor Abbott Tuesday afternoon was Hemphill County Judge Lisa Johnson who praised the first responders and many of the hidden heroes that play such a significant role in times like this.

As some of the fires, including the Smoke House Creek Fire, continue to burn and claim more acreage, a few have been knocked down enough to allow for post-fire loss assessment.

Still. Governor Abbott encourages everyone in the Texas Panhandle to remain vigilant, and to monitor information sources as part of their protection preparation.
