Our Mayor and City Council campaigns are going on here in Amarillo. We would not consider any of the candidates to be “Goats.” Would you trust a goat to make good decisions for your town or city? The town manager of the city of Fair Haven, Vermont, says he decided to hold an election for an animal mayor as a means of raising money to replace a school playground. The winner of the election of was three-year-old Nubian goat named Lincoln. Residents were given the chance to nominate their pets for office in exchange for a $5 donation toward the playground cause. Lincoln will be sworn into office at a Select Board meeting tomorrow (March 12th), and she will serve a one-year term with duties including marching in the Memorial Day parade. (UPI)
