DPS Suspending Automatic Downgrade For CDLs

The Texas Department of Public Safety has suspended the automatic downgrade of commercial driver licenses due to Covid-19.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is providing an extension for medical certificates required for CDLs if the driver can not provide them due to the DPS Livers License offices being closed.

The extension goes until June 30th and helps ensure that commercial drivers are able to continue working throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Drivers with updated certificates can still submit those to DPS by email or fax.
