City gives Tax Break To Harrington Regional Medical Center

The Amarillo City Council is giving a tax break to the Harrington Regional Medical Center.

The tax break will allow the completion of the medical project totaling 11-million dollars to complete.

A building in the center is currently valued at 6- million dollars, and it’s been vacant since 2018, due to money problems.

The new owners will pay taxes on the current value of the property. now valued at 6-million dollars, and according to city documents, it’ll become an acute care hospital providing up to 160 jobs.

The new owners will pay taxes on the current value, but only 20 percent of taxes on improvements for eight years.
