City Council Decides Best Course To Take To Find Next City Manager

The Amarillo City Council heard presentations from departments seeking to fill board positions as well as the AEDC Tuesday.

Council also voted 5-0 to award Tri-State General Contracting Group, Inc.  $5,301,450.00 for the demolition, site preparation, site security, and construction of the City of Amarillo Fueling Center locations at 1009 SE 21st Ave. and 701 SE 27th Ave. The funds will come from fleet fund revenues, available landfill capital, drainage capital, and water and sewer capital.

Members also discussed how best to find our next City Manager, deciding a subcommittee made up of councilmen Les Simpson and Don Tipps will work with staff to vet possible firms and how to solicit interest and applicants.

Paid parking in downtown Amarillo is now but a short chapter in our city’s history as the City Council has voted to abolish it as it has only generated enough revenue to cover the fees associated with it.
