Amarillo Department of Public Health is Getting An Upgraded Facility

The Amarillo Public Health Department has been running out of space for a long while, with makeshift cabinets and storage boxes throughout the hallways in their facilities. 

While they have outgrown their current location at 1000 Martin Road, APHD will open a new location right next door at 850 Martin Rd. 

This upgrade makes their space over 17000 square feet, whereas their old building was around 11000 sq. ft. 

This move also saved the city money for remodeling a building, as opposed to building a new structure, and did not tap into the $1.9 million renovation project. 

The Public Health Department will also keep the old building in use for non-clinical services. 

The opening day for the new building will be May 16th.
