Canyon School Enrollment Record

Canyon has a new record high school enrollment number.

Canyon school officials say the number of enrollments at 11-thousand students is a 360-student increase over last year.

They point to the new West Plains High School was built to help with the increase of students from Randall High School. West Plains has 80 percent of the students that were already zoned to go to Randall High School.

Enrollments are looked at in January and February to predict the number of students that will be attending the next school year and this allows for staff to plan for what Canyon campuses can expect the next year.

School officials also say with the new schools in the District, more students are able to participate in activities like sports and marching bands
