Xcel Energy Making Economic Impacts Around the Community

Not only does Xcel Energy help provide power to places in our community and beyond, but they have also played a bigger role in our economy than one may think.

In 2022 Xcel Energy purchased almost $784 million in goods and services from businesses in Texas and New Mexico, up from the $745 million in local spending the year before.

Local governments and school districts have benefited from this in huge ways, in the form of close to $177 million in franchise fees and tax revenues in 2022 that help pay for the services vital to the area’s quality of life.

Xcel Energy also benefits the communities it serves through ongoing support of economic development efforts and creating jobs. Economic developers have cited recent investments in the distribution network in Amarillo as key to attracting 3,000 new jobs and over $2 billion in capital investment over the past two years.
