Xcel Completes New Substation Upgrade, With More On the Way
Xcel Energy has wrapped up a $7.6 million substation upgrade in Amarillo in order to help them meet growing customer demand.
The upgrade included the addition of a new substation transformer and three new feeder lines to serve customer growth at the Amarillo Economic Development Center’s South Georgia Business Park and beyond.
The Farmers Substation project will ensure businesses like Austin Hose, Cacique Cheese, and any future ones will have the capacity needed to grow.
More upgrades are planned across the area including building the new Arnot Substation near I-40 and Hollywood Road, the new Ashby Substation in eastern Dalhart, as well as a new operations service center in Bushland.
