What You Missed From This Week’s City Council

Amarillo City Council was back in session on Tuesday, with some interesting topics that were discussed. Here’s what you may have missed.

The City’s Parks and Recreation Department and council have agreed to a leasing agreement with the Texas Youth Panhandle Sports Foundation to lease the Rick Klein Baseball Complex as well as the Southwest Softball Complex at John Stiff Park.

Sticking with baseball, the city and the Elmore Sports Group have agreed on a contract to utilize their architectural and engineering services for Hodgetown. This contract will allow the architect to prove and represent Minor League Baseball that all new design standards are met and will keep Hodgetown in compliance.

These services will be funded through a capital maintenance and reserve fund set aside from the lease contract between the city and the Elmore Sports Group, and with the new season coming up, the plan will be to have these modifications in place as soon as a few weeks after this upcoming season.
