United Way Youth Leadership

Amarillo High School students are leading their peers into leadership roles throughout the city.

Students led by select leadership groups from high school students around Amarillo are learning about the needs of the community, and the community itself through service projects, guest speakers, and non-profits.

The students chose the United Way to be the vehicle to spearhead this program and have completed two service projects.

One of the projects was putting together 800 care kits for the homeless.  The kits contain items like toothbrushes, Gloves, socks, and even feminine products.

The second service project, the Teens and the United Way teamed up with Xcel Energy, providing bikes for kids at Rolling Hills and Whittier Elementary this month.

The students assembled 125 bikes for second graders at the schools.

The goal of the United Way Youth Leadership Day is to get students interested in serving their communities.
