Tulia Controlled Burn

A controlled burn is scheduled for Tulia, Saturday.

The controlled burn is being carried out by the Tulia Fire Department, and is aimed at enhancing the town’s wildfire defense mechanisms.

The operation, with help from other area departments, will focus on the west and south perimeters of the Mackenzie addition.

The controlled burn will start in the morning hours and will go until it is completed.

The Tulia Fire Department’s Facebook post says forecasted conditions, including favorable winds and a potential rain event in the evening, are expected to assist in the controlled burns’ success,

The Tulia Volunteer Fire Department said additional prescribed burns are also planned in other areas deemed at risk around the town.
