TTUHSC To Host National Physician Suicide Prevention Awareness Event

National Physician Suicide Prevention Day will be on Sunday, September 17th, and the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center will be observing the day in its own way.
Taking place on Thursday, September 14th, TTUHSC students will observe the day with an event for education and reflection.
The event will begin at noon inside of the Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy Auditorium, with a wreath-laying ceremony set for 1:30 p.m. at the TTUHSC Horse Statue on campus.
The event, sponsored by the TTUHSC Student and Resident Wellness Committee aims to remind others that physicians have one of the highest suicide rates of any profession.
More than half of physicians know a physician who has either considered, attempted, or died by suicide.
