Second Murder Arrest-Amarillo Shooting

Amarillo Police made a second arrest in the shooting death of Markell Toombs Reed.

On April 3rd, a  Randall County Jury issued an indictment for murder against Juade Rique Gonzales.

He was then located at a home on South Marrs Street near Southeast 19th Avenue and arrested.

The arrest stems back to the January 2023 shooting when officers found Reed in the street at Southwest 41st Avenue and South Travis Street suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Video evidence shows there are multiple suspects in the shooting.

In January of 2024, 18-year-old Kevin Fortuna was arrested on charges related to the case, and booked into the Randall County Jail.

The case is currently in the hands of the Amarillo Police Homicide Unit.
