Seatbelt Campaign

Tx DOT took the message of wearing seatbelts very seriously, and they went to AmTech’s law enforcement classes to talk about the importance of wearing them.

In 2022, there were 11 motor vehicle crashes in Amarillo in which unbuckled teens were hurt or died.

The Assistant Chief of Police with the Amarillo Police Department talked with the students about the impact of teens not wearing seat belts.

TxDOT’s executive director Marc Williams says, “It only takes a few seconds to put on your seat belt, and that simple click can save your life.”

Partnering with APD, TxDOT’s encouraging “Click It or Ticket”, meaning not wearing a seat belt can make you face fines of up to $200.
