River Road ISD Vaping Policy

River Road High School is looking to tamp down on vaping in the school.

They’ve added vaping sensors in all bathrooms, a tip line, crime stoppers, and a school program where students can report vaping or any type of criminal activity.

School officials say they are seeing positive results from the measures.

The legislation dictates a mandatory 10-day stay in DAP, the alternative education program, and  If caught a second time, the punishment doubles.

School principal, Chet Chettinger says the District has seen a decrease of over 15% from last year, and they have not had a repeat offender.

The goal this year is to let parents know about the education that is being put into place for the students.

River Road did a survey with the students and found out that about three quarters of them said they were deterred from using a vape in the future
