Library Wants To Plant Seeds Of Knowledge

The Amarillo Public Library System is sowing the seeds of wisdom.

The library is trying to launch a seed library in it the downtown facility.

Stacy Clopton, library public relations coordinator, says seed libraries are a fairly novel thing and different libraries around the country are trying out the program.

Under the seed program, patrons are allowed to check out seeds that they can grow in their gardens and they are partnering with Randall County Master Gardeners for the project.

Library officials are also partnering with them to act as a venue for the Master Gardeners to carry out its mission of educating people and offering different gardening programs.

The Library system does not expect that the seeds will come back once they’re checked out, but they feel it is a way for people to learn about gardening by doing that through their library where they’re used to coming to learn how to do new things,”
