Inmate Death At Clements Unit

An inmate was murdered at the Clements Unit in Amarillo. 

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice says that on Monday at 6:15 p.m. a prison staff member found an inmate had been physically assaulted in his cell and that life-saving measures were initiated.

The inmate did not survive and his cellmate is believed to have killed him.

TDCJ’s Office of Inspector General is investigating the incident and the names of the suspect and victim have not been released.
