Illegal Dumping Decline in City

There’s been a decline in illegal dumping reports in Amarillo.

In 2021, There were 1200 existing sites and now it’s down to 200.

City officials say the decline is due because of aggressive reporting with video cameras.

City officials say before the cameras were in place , they were seeing three to four violations per week and now it’s declined to about two weeks at the same location.

To maintain a low number of reports, Amarillo has bought 10 more portable cameras to go into hot spots around the city.

The next job the task force is working on is for making it easier for pick up crews to report dump sites.
