Honoring 9/11

The Amarillo Fire Department is holding a commemoration ceremony for the 21st anniversary of 9/11.

The ceremony is set for 8:40 a.m on September 11th at the Texas Panhandle War Memorial at 4101 South Georgia.

Amarillo law enforcement, medical services as well as Potter and Randall County first responders will be on hand to remember the fallen heroes and lives lost on that day.

AFD says the keynote speaker will be David Lovejoy, an Army veteran, and local NAACP vice-president along with rifle volleys and the playing of “taps” followed by a moment of silence at 8:59 a.m. and a flyover by LifeStar an honor guard raises the flag.

AFD asks that those attending get there early so they don’t interrupt the ceremony and because parking may be limited because multiple emergency vehicles will be parked in the vicinity.
