Fires 100% Contained

Wildfires that have just about consumed the Texas Panhandle are now considered 100% contained.

The Smokehouse Creek, Windy Deuce, and Grape Vine Creek fires that destroyed over 1.24 million acres are now considered 100% contained.

Power lines are thought to have started the fires, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. Xcel Energy admits some of it’s equipment appears to have started the Smokehouse Creek Fire.

Xcel disputes that it acted negligently in operating and maintaining its infrastructure.
