Curry County Sheriff’s Office Scam

A scam is hitting the Curry County Sheriff’s Office and they’re warning the public about it.

The department says it received many calls from citizens on Monday from people claiming to be from the Sheriff’s Office. The scammers use different names and phone numbers.

The scammers were telling citizens they missed a court date and needed to pay fines via cash kiosks, gift cards or risk being arrested.

Curry County Sheriff’s officials say they do not request fines be paid by phone, cash kiosks or gift cards.

They’re asking residents to hang up on the caller and call the Sheriff’s Office if they think they’re being scammed at 575-769-2335
