Clements Unit Murder

An inmate has been murdered at the Clements Unit in Amarillo.

A unit staff member discovered at 6:15 p.m. Monday, that an inmate had been physically assaulted.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice says life-saving measures were immediately applied but the inmate did not survive.

The victim’s cellmate is believed to have killed him.

The suspect and victim have not been released, and the Office of Inspector General is investigating.
